Václav Havel's street-art painting on John Lennon's wall
As part of the opening event celebrating 30 years of freedom , where 20 artists from the Czech Republic and the world were invited, I decided to portray our first post-revolutionary president Václav Havel balancing in the air, approaching the world map (portrayed by other artists) on the legendary John Lennon wall ). The art of painting was not the glorification of Havel, but rather the representation of the difficult balancing act over important world decisions. I used a photograph of Havel's court photographer, Tomki Němec, from the days when he became president.
